38th National Convention at IEI Rourkela
Rourkela: The Institution of Engineers (IEI) (India) in association with National Institute of Technology Rourkela organized 38th National Convention of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and National Conference on Capacity Building in Process Metallurgy from 26th-27th July 2025 at National Institute of Technology Rourkela. Chief Guest Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director National Institute of Technology Rourkela inaugurated the event in the presence of guest of honor Er. Atanu 
Bhowmick, Ex. Director in charge, RSP-SAIL and Professor of Practice, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Er. Kishore Kumar Mehrotra, Chairman, MMDB, IEI, Er. Santosh Kumar Polaki, Chairman, IEI, Rourkela Local Centre, Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Behera, Honorary Secretary, IEI, Rourkela Local Centre (Convener of the event). In inaugural function, three Eminent Engineers Awards and two young engineers awards has been given to distinguished Indian Personalities due to their visible contribution in their field in engineering and research. This two days’ conference covered 11 parallel sessions includes 11 keynote lectures, 12 invited lectures, and more than 140 contributory talks from inside and outside of India. There are 45 organization participated in this convention. Several distinguished speakers delivered keynote and invited talks at the event. Several Cutting edge technologies in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and innovations in process metallurgy were discussed through technical sessions. Shri P.M. Prasad Chairman- cum Managing Director of Coal India Limited was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory session. Prof. Anshuman Patra, Prof. Soumitra Kumar Dinda, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Prof. Singam Jayanthu, Mining Engineering, National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Er. Santosh Ku. Sahoo also contributed as the coordinators of the event.
