Waltair Division Launches Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Campaign
Rayagada/VSKP — Joining the nationwide movement, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway today launched the 9th edition of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign, under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The fortnight-long drive, being observed from September 17 to October 2, will culminate on Gandhi Jayanti with mass cleanliness activities across the country.
At Waltair Division, the campaign was inaugurated with a cleanliness drive at Dolphin Nose Railway Colony, Visakhapatnam. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Shri Lalit Bohra, led the programme, administering the Swachhata Pledge to all participants and reaffirming the collective commitment to cleanliness.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from ADRM (Operations) Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Infrastructure) Shri E. Santharam, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer & Head of Environment and Housekeeping Management Department Shri Praveen Bhati, senior branch officers, railway employees, and a large number of colony residents.
Addressing the gathering, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra highlighted that Waltair Division has drawn up a comprehensive action plan to observe Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 with a wide range of activities every day till October 2. The programmes include door-to-door awareness campaigns, intensive cleanliness drives, Swachh Food Initiatives, and competitions in line with the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
In addition to Visakhapatnam, awareness workshops and cleanliness campaigns have been organized across the Division and at various railway stations. The campaign also features diverse activities such as health camps, marathons, sports events, plantation drives, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle programmes, cleanliness drives in trains and pantry cars, outreach in catering units, Swachhata rallies, and street plays.
The Division has announced that the campaign will conclude with Swachhata Diwas on October 2, reinforcing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness and collective civic responsibility.
