Rayagada Pioneers Doorstep Governance
PVTGs to Receive Pensions at Doorsteps Under PM Janman
Rayagada /Bissamcuttack:17/11: Taking Governance to the Hills. Rayagada launches Doorstep Governance to PVTG Villages. In a groundbreaking step towards inclusive governance, the Rayagada District Administration has launched Odisha’s first ever door to door pension delivery service for members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the visionary framework of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘PM JANMAN’ initiative.
This pioneering effort aims to ensure that welfare schemes reach even the remotest and most inaccessible corners of the district, a commitment towards true last mile delivery of government services.
The initiative was inaugurated today at Khambesi Village of Kuril Gram Panchayat of Bissamcuttack Block of Niyamgiri region, under the leadership of District Magistrate Shri Ashutosh Kulkarni, and supervision of Chief Development Officer, Shri Akshay Khemundu.
The event marked the official launch of the “Door to Door Pension Delivery Program to PVTGs”, innaugurated the name of ‘Duare Prasasan’, Governanace at door step, jointly designed and implemented by Bissamcuttack Block Development Officer Shiv Patnaik and Assistant Engineer Jharana Tripathi hailed as a lifeline for remote tribal communities
Through this initiative, pensions are now being delivered directly to the doorsteps of elderly and vulnerable tribal beneficiaries, particularly those living in the difficult terrains of the Niyamgiri hill range.
“This is not merely a program, but a promise fulfilled, a commitment to serve those at the last mile,” said Collector Rayagada Ashutosh Kulkarni. “It is not just pension delivery; it is service delivery to the people, for the people.”
The effort covers four PVTG Gram Panchayats Kurli, Kakubadi, Chanchdaguda, and Daliakuji under Bissamcuttack Block benefiting over 1,455 beneficiaries asserted BDO Shiv Patnaik. Earlier, many PVTG residents had to trek several kilometers through dense forests and hilly terrains to collect their pensions from the nearest Gram Panchayat offices. This initiative ensures that such hardship becomes a thing of the past.
In a thoughtful gesture, pensions are being delivered in customised and designed envelopes featuring the images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, symbolizing the government’s commitment to bring “governance to every doorstep” being commended as a symbol of administrative sensitivity Kurli Sarpanch Subardhani Wadka said, “This program has brought new hope and enthusiasm among the residents of the Niyamgiri.
BDO, Bissamcuttack appreciated all the staff for putting their efforts to make this event successful, especially BSSO Muna Tadingi and DEO Sarbajit Padhy who were the true architect behind the ideas.
With this, Rayagada has set a statewide precedent for doorstep governance, proving that administrative innovation, when driven by compassion, can truly bridge the distance between the government and its people.
