SPREADING LIGHT BEYOND THE WALLS
Rourkela: The Rotary Club of Rourkela Vibrant celebrated Deepavali with the inmates of the Juvenile Home,THE BAL SUDHAR GRUHA, Pradhanpali,Rourkela, spreading the message of light, joy and compassion among the young residents.
The programme began with a red carpet welcome to all the Rotarians along with beating of traditional drums by the inmates all the way to the meeting hall. The programme took the start with the devotional song by Rotarian Ajit Mohan Pujari,creating a festive atmosphere.Thereafter lighting of incense sticks & sacred offerings of flowers were carried out to the deity, Ganesh, the destroyer of obstacles.
A brief address by the Club President Professor (Dr)Minati Panda highlighted the importance and values of Deepavali, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.Smt Babita Mohapatra, member of the Juvenile Justice Board,gracing the occasion as a honourable guest addressed the children. Rotarian Sabita Mohanty also encouraged the inmates through her address.The Rotarians interacted with the inmates, motivating them to adopt positive thinking and move ahead in life with confidence and discipline. A few inmates displayed their talent by playing traditional musical instruments. Two inmates participated with song & talk.Vice President, Rotarian Basant Tanty also addressed the inmates. Rotarian Ajit Mohan Pujari entertained all with a few songs, both devotional & amusing ones.Vote of thanks was offered by Rotarian Ajit Mohan Pujari.
About eighty inmates & all the staff of the BALSUDHAR GRUHA were present. Other Rotarians like Ganeshwar Patnaik, Prashant Ranjan Patra, Ashok Mishra, Anita Nayak, Sabita Mohanty were present.
Snack packets consisting of nutritious RAGI CAKEs, energy drinks,chocolates and mild fire ceackers were distributed to all, adding to the festive spirit and delight of the occasion. Club President Professor Dr Panda appreciated the efforts of all members who contributed to organizing the event and stated that such initiatives reflect Rotary’s commitment to community service and human values.
Sri Prakash Chandra Tripathy,the State Coordinator,BAL SUDHAR GRUHA, Rourkela was the overall coordinator and the master of ceremony.
