A five day workshop on Enhancing Digital Literacy of School Teachers towards Women Empowerment
Rourkela : A five-day workshop on “Enhancing Digital Literacy towards Women Empowerment of School Teachers ” was inaugurated on 25th May 2026 at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Rourkela. The programme has been jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Rourkela, and Rotary Club of Rourkela Steel City, RID 3261, with the objective of empowering school teachers with essential digital and computer literacy skills required in modern education. The workshop will continue till 29th May 2026.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Head of the Department, Prof. Bibhudutta Sahoo, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Rtn Suchismita Chinara attended as the Convenor of the programme, while Prof. Prasenjit Dey joined as the Guest of Honour and Co-Convenor. Other dignitaries present included Club Advisor PP Rtn Dr. Anjana Maitra, Club President Rtn Binapani Rath, Event Chair Rtn Piu Guha, Rtn Sarita Mall and Rtn Namita Acharya from Rotary Club of Rourkela Steel City. Addressing the participants, the speakers highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s education system and emphasized the role of teachers in adapting to modern technological advancements. They encouraged the participants to make the best use of the training sessions to strengthen their teaching methodologies through technology. Ten teachers from various educational institutions, including Indo English School, Delhi Public School Rourkela, Kalinga Public School, Jingle Bells School and The Smart Vision Learning System are participating in the workshop. The participants are embarking on a valuable journey of digital learning aimed at enhancing classroom teaching, project preparation, record maintenance, presentation skills and the use of modern educational tools.
The faculty members and resource persons for the programme include Prof. Suchismita Chinara, Prof. Prasenjit Dey, Ritarani Sahu (PhD Scholar), Vipul Singh Negi (PhD Scholar), Anand Raj (B.Tech Graduate), Tanmay Agarkar (M.Tech 1st Year) and Vasavi Guruvu (M.Tech 1st Year). The workshop will continue till 29th May 2026 with interactive sessions and practical training modules for the participants.
