9-Year-Old Boy Dies Due to Blood Denial at Odisha Blood Centre

A 9-year-old boy named Rajiv Takri, son of auto driver Madhusudan Takri, died due to denial of blood at the Odisha Blood Centre. Rajiv was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital with fever on Wednesday morning. After a blood test, doctors advised immediate blood transfusion due to low blood levels. However, the blood centre refused to provide blood despite repeated requests from Rajiv’s family.

The family alleged that they were told there was no blood available, and even after pleading, the blood centre staff refused to provide blood until someone else donated blood. Finally, A+ve blood was provided after someone else’s donation, but it was too late, and Rajiv died during the transfusion.

The incident sparked a protest by Rajiv’s family and friends in front of the blood centre, demanding compensation and justice for Rajiv’s death. The blood centre in-charge, Gautam Patnaik, assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty. The district administration has also been informed, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the incident and fix responsibility.

The family is still in shock and is seeking justice for Rajiv’s untimely death. The incident has raised serious concerns about the functioning of the blood centre and the hospital’s ability to provide timely medical care to patients in need.
