Waltair Division Holds Divisional Committee Meeting of Hon’ble MPs at Visakhapatnam
Rayagada /Visakhapatnam, 4 November 2025: A meeting of the Divisional Committee of Hon’ble Members of Parliament (MPs) of Waltair Division, East Coast Railway, was convened today at Visakhapatnam. The session was chaired by Shri K. Ramamohan Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister for Civil Aviation, in the presence of Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway.
The meeting brought together ten distinguished Members of Parliament representing Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The following MPs and representatives participated in the deliberations:

During the deliberations, the Hon’ble MPs shared constructive insights and valuable recommendations aimed at strengthening railway infrastructure and passenger amenities across the division. They appreciated the developmental initiatives undertaken by Waltair Division and also highlighted issues related to train services, stoppages, and onboard facilities.
Key subjects discussed included:
Construction and progress of Amrit Bharat Station projects
Introduction of new train services from Araku, Koraput, Jagdalpur, Rayagada, and Srikakulam to various destinations
Increased frequency of trains to major cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Tirupati
Extension of existing train services
Capacity augmentation projects such as new lines, doubling, tripling, and construction of a fourth line
Development of Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges (ROBs)
Proposal for commencement of Rayagada Division and discussion on South Coast Railway matters
Welcoming the Hon’ble MPs, Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, briefed the members on the zone’s operational achievements, major infrastructure projects, and continuous improvements in passenger amenities.
Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division, made a comprehensive presentation highlighting the division’s performance during the financial year, progress of Amrit Bharat Station schemes, and ongoing infrastructure enhancement works. He also addressed the queries and suggestions raised by the Hon’ble MPs.
The General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager assured that the recommendations and concerns of the MPs would be given top priority and due consideration.
The meeting was also attended by Shri E. Santharam, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure), along with branch officers and principal heads of various departments of East Coast Railway.
