Cyclone & Hailstorm Devastates Bolangir: ExMP Niranjan Bishi Demands ₹20 Lakh Relief for each affected Farmers of Bolangir.
Bolangir, Date: ___/04/2026 – A severe natural calamity in the form of cyclonic storm, heavy rainfall, and destructive hailstorm on 06 April 2026 has caused massive devastation in Bolangir district of Odisha, particularly in Patnagarh, Khaprakhol, and Belpada Blocks.
Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Bishi has expressed deep concern over the situation and has urged the State Government for immediate relief and compensation.
Widespread Damage Across Villages
The worst affected villages include:
Patnagarh Block: Padhel, Dunerpadar, Thakpara, Bankibahal, Barbahal
Khaprakhol Block: Changaria, Rengaljuri, Goudpali, Juria
Belpada Block: Kindrital, Gambhari, Kansapala
Nature of Devastation
Standing paddy crops destroyed completely
Vegetable farms devastated
Minor forest produce wiped out
Mango orchards damaged by hailstones
Poor villagers’ houses severely damaged or collapsed
This disaster has severely impacted farmers, forest dwellers, and economically weaker families, leaving them in distress.
Demand for Immediate Relief
Shri Bishi has demanded:
₹20 lakh financial assistance to affected farmers and households
Relief support under CMRF and PMRF
Immediate damage assessment and compensation disbursement
Call for Urgent Government Action
He emphasized that timely intervention is critical to prevent further hardship and to restore livelihoods of affected families.
