Dalmia Cement’s Rajgangpur Plant Empowers Over 5400 Households with Sustainable Livelihoods Under Gram Parivartan
Rajgangpur, April 14, 2026: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, continues to advance livelihood development in communities surrounding its Rajgangpur unit through its flagship Gram Parivartan programme. Focused on driving sustainable rural transformation, the initiative empowers households through skill development, entrepreneurship, and improved access to government welfare schemes via targeted interventions. During the current financial year, the programme has positively impacted 5443 households, strengthening income security across local communities, with many families now earning up to ₹1 lakh annually.
At the core of Gram Parivartan lies a diversified livelihood strategy. In Rajgangpur, over 1000 households have adopted organic vegetable cultivation for commercial purposes, while around 800 households have developed kitchen gardens to support both income and nutrition. Additionally, more than 500 households are engaged in mushroom cultivation as a supplementary livelihood. The programme also focuses on strengthening farm economics through interventions such as vermicomposting, azolla production and high-value crops like dragon fruit, enabling farmers to reduce costs, improve productivity and adopt climate-resilient practices. Livestock development remains a key pillar, with 1,111 poultry units, 985 goatery units and 170 piggery units established. Complementing these efforts, millet cultivation spans 106 acres, wadi development covers 420 acres with over 31,500 fruit plants, and 92 micro-enterprises have been set up to strengthen rural entrepreneurship. To further enhance incomes, initiatives like Project Annadata and the Project Hastakla are driving both farm and non-farm livelihoods.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Chetan Shrivastava, Executive Director- DCBL and Unit Head -Rajgangpur shared, “Meaningful community development requires depth, continuity and trust. Through Gram Parivartan, we are working closely with rural communities to build diversified and resilient livelihood models that go beyond short-term interventions. The scale of impact we are witnessing in Rajgangpur reflects what is possible when programmes are participatory, locally relevant and economically sustainable.”
Collectively, these interventions under its CSR arm, Dalmia Bharat Foundation, underscore a sustained commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods in Rajgangpur through an integrated approach across agriculture, allied activities, and non-farm opportunities. By promoting diversified incomes, climate-resilient practices, and local enterprise development, the Gram Parivartan programme enables communities to build stable, sustainable livelihoods while reducing economic vulnerability.
