Demand for Arrest of Bank Manager After Tribal Man Allegedly Forced to Bring Exhumed Sister’s Remains to Claim ₹19,300 ex MP NIRANJAN BISHI
Bhubaneswar 28.04.26 — A deeply disturbing incident from Kendujhar has triggered outrage across Odisha and beyond, after a Scheduled Tribe man was allegedly compelled to bring the exhumed remains of his deceased sister to a bank in order to claim ₹19,300 lying in her account.Sri Jitu Munda, younger brother of Kalara Munda, resident of Mallipasi village under Patna Police Station in Kendujhar district, and belonging to the Scheduled Tribes community, is stated to be a descendant of legendary tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. He alleged that he approached a branch of UGB Bank in Kendujhar seeking release of his late sister’s money.
He informed bank officials that his sister had died two months earlier. However, instead of advising him to submit lawful documents such as a death certificate, succession certificate, or legal heir certificate, the Branch Manager and staff allegedly insisted that the account holder must be brought physically to the bank.
Helpless and humiliated, Sri Munda reportedly opened the burial site of his sister, carried the skeletal remains on his shoulder through a public road, and brought them to the bank as proof of death.
The shocking episode has been widely condemned as illegal, barbaric, inhuman, and a grave violation of dignity, especially against a poor and vulnerable tribal family.
Niranjan Bishi has strongly condemned the incident and demanded:
Immediate arrest of the Branch Manager and all responsible staff members.
Registration of criminal cases for harassment, humiliation, and abuse of authority.
Immediate suspension and permanent removal from bank service of all officials involved in this alleged modus operandi.
Compensation to Sri Jitu Munda and his family for mental agony and public humiliation.
A high-level inquiry into discriminatory treatment of tribal customers in banking institutions.
He stated that such cruel conduct has no place in a civilized democracy and strict exemplary punishment must be ensured.

Kendujhar की एक अत्यंत शर्मनाक घटना ने जनाक्रोश पैदा कर दिया है, जहां एक अनुसूचित जनजाति युवक को कथित रूप से अपनी मृत बहन के खाते से ₹19,300 निकालने के लिए उसका कंकाल बैंक लाने पर मजबूर किया गया।
श्री जीतू मुंडा, कलारा मुंडा के छोटे भाई, मल्लीपासी गांव निवासी, Patna Police Station थाना क्षेत्र, केन्दुझर जिला, अनुसूचित जनजाति समुदाय से आते हैं और महान आदिवासी स्वतंत्रता सेनानी Birsa Munda के वंशज बताए जाते हैं। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि वे अपनी दिवंगत बहन के खाते की राशि प्राप्त करने यूजीबी बैंक की केन्दुझर शाखा पहुंचे थे।
उन्होंने बैंक अधिकारियों को बताया कि उनकी बहन का निधन दो माह पूर्व हो चुका है। इसके बावजूद, मृत्यु प्रमाण पत्र, उत्तराधिकार प्रमाण पत्र अथवा वैधानिक दस्तावेज मांगने के बजाय कथित रूप से कहा गया कि खाताधारक को स्वयं बैंक लाना होगा।
अपमानित और विवश होकर श्री मुंडा ने कथित रूप से बहन की कब्र खोदी, कंकाल को कंधे पर रखकर सार्वजनिक मार्ग से बैंक तक पहुंचाया।
इस घटना को अमानवीय, बर्बर, अवैध और मानव गरिमा पर गंभीर आघात बताया जा रहा है।
Niranjan Bishi ने इस घटना की कड़ी निंदा करते हुए मांग की है:
शाखा प्रबंधक एवं दोषी कर्मचारियों की तत्काल गिरफ्तारी।
उत्पीड़न, अपमान एवं पद के दुरुपयोग पर आपराधिक मामला दर्ज किया जाए।
शामिल अधिकारियों को तत्काल निलंबित कर बैंक सेवा से बर्खास्त किया जाए।
श्री जीतू मुंडा एवं उनके परिवार को मानसिक पीड़ा और सार्वजनिक अपमान हेतु मुआवजा दिया जाए।
आदिवासी ग्राहकों के साथ भेदभावपूर्ण व्यवहार की उच्चस्तरीय जांच कराई जाए।
उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसी क्रूरता किसी सभ्य लोकतंत्र में स्वीकार्य नहीं है और दोषियों को उदाहरणात्मक दंड मिलना चाहिए।
