35th Barsha Asar of Ashadha Sahitya Sansad Held with Poetry Recitation,Felicitation, Literary Discussion and Honours.
Cuttack: The 35th annual Barsha Milan (Monsoon Literary Gathering) of Ashadha Sahitya Sansad Dalai Ghai Anand Bazaar Biridi Block was held at the sacred Dhyankud Peetha.The programme was presided over by Dr.Kadambini Parija, Vice-President of the Sansad. Peethadhish Baba Arakhit Das inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.Jagatsinghpur Municipal Council Chairperson Archana Singh,Utkal Sahitya Samaj Library Secretary Brahmananda Mohanty, litterateur Dr.Chittaranjan Behera,Ajay Kumar Behera and lecturer Biswaranjan Dash attended the event as distinguished guests. They observed that the monsoon is the season of creativity and that, just as rain fills the dry earth with greenery, poets have enriched Odia literature through their writings inspired by the rains.
Pandit Dr. Guru Prasad Rath recited Vedic hymns. Founder-President of the Sansad,Pitambar Mahapatra delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests, while poet Umakanta Rath proposed the vote of thanks.On the occasion, several individuals and organisations were felicitated with various awards by presenting them with citations and ceremonial shawls. Archana Singh received the Kunjalata Panda Seva Samman,Nirupama Rout received the Nirmala Mahapatra Kavita Samman Harapriya Mishra received the Bidyut Lata Panda Siksha Samman,Pandit Basab Kumar Nanda received the Narayan Panda Sangathak Samman,Ramakanta Raul received the Brajabandhu Satapathy Sanskriti Samman,Ramakanta Mahapatra received the Kshirod Chandra Satapathy Samabaya Samman,and Pabitra Mohan Das received the Kailash Nath Dikshit Seva Samman.Similarly, Sitanshu Sekhar Ray was honoured with the Birabar Das Pathak Samman, Pramod Kumar Brahma with the Radhanath Satapathy Seva Samman, Tanmay Kishore Das with the Mayadhar Kar Sahitya Samman,Kailash Chandra Pradhan with the Braja Kishore Panda Prabandha Samman,Jayadev Sahu with the Alekh Chandra Parija Siksha Samman, Alaka Priyadarshini Das with the Malati Kar Medha Samman and Bishnupriya Charitable Trust with the Meera Rani Mahapatra Seva Samman.During the morning session a poetry recitation programme was coordinated by poets Chhabirani Pati and Santoshi Sahu.Around 50 poets, including Gitikabi Bamadev Swain, Patitapaban Jena, Umakanta Nayak, Banalata Mahapatra, Charulata Dash, Kaminimala Bira, Priyatama Sahu and Trilochan Das, recited their self-composed poems.
The programme was coordinated by the Sansad’s Secretary Kuntala Mahapatra along with members Saumya Ranjan Mahapatra, Saumendra Mahapatra, Abhishek Sandesh Mahapatra and others.
