No-Confidence Motion Brought Against Rayagada Municipality Vice-Chairperson by 19 Councillors
Rayagada: A no-confidence motion has been brought against the Vice-Chairperson of Rayagada Municipality, BJD leader Shubhra Panda. Reports confirm that as many as 19 councillors submitted the written no-confidence proposal to the District Collector today. Rayagada Municipality comprises 24 councillors in total. This development comes shortly after former Rajya Sabha MP N. Bhaskar Rao resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). Following his resignation, the elected representatives who are considered close to him initiated this step.
Vice-Chairperson Shubhra Panda is known to be a supporter of BJD district president Jagannath Saraka and Sudhir Das. With this sudden political move, concerns are growing that similar situations may arise in other blocks of the district in the coming days.
It is noteworthy that former Rajya Sabha MP N. Bhaskar Rao had recently quit the BJD, and this action by the councillors is being viewed as a direct fallout of his resignation.
