Senior Journalist Rajiv Lochan Ponda Passes Away, Journalistic Community in Mourning
Rayagada: The sudden demise of senior journalist Rajiv Lochan Ponda has sent shockwaves through the journalistic community in Rayagada. Ponda, who was actively working in Rayagada, succumbed to a sudden health issue on April 30.
According to reports, Ponda was traveling to Kolnara in his car when he suffered a sudden rise in blood pressure, leading to a loss of control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road, and Ponda sustained a minor head injury. Despite initial treatment in Rayagada, his condition worsened due to a brain hemorrhage, and he was shifted to Maniapal Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he breathed his last.
Ponda’s untimely demise has left a void in the journalistic fraternity. He was known for his amiable nature and was a beloved figure among his peers. The Rayagada Press Union, of which he was an active member, has expressed deep sorrow at his passing, describing it as an irreparable loss.
Ponda’s mortal remains are expected to arrive at his residence near Mangala Temple in Rayagada at 5 pm, where final rites will be performed. The journalistic community and his acquaintances are mourning the loss of a dedicated professional and a cherished friend.
