A DAY OF UNBRIDLED JOY
AT SERVICE TO HUMANITY FOUNDATION……. CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION
Rourkela: It was a day of reckoning, as we hosted an extraordinarily successful Childrens Day celebration. Meticulously designed to be inclusive, the event brought immense happiness to children with a range of abilities, including those who are differently abled, mentally challenged, having learning disabilities and are living with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Based on the understanding of the unique needs of every child the event was celebrated by honouring the first prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his birthday. Popularly known as Chacha Nehru, The founder of the Ashram, Dr Sashikant Acharya known, amongst the children as Bapi, and Mr Nayanendu Mishra, whose death anniversary was celebrated by his wife on this auspicious occasion. The children then sang a beautiful song which was followed by short speeches from the President Mr Anjan Dey, Secretary Mr. Pitambar Lenka, Dilip Kumar Barik Chief Functionary, Chief Guest-Dr Ranjan Dey, Chief speaker-Mr Sanjib Mohanty, Guest of Honour Prof. Dr Ajit Behera, Balmukunda Sukla (CWC Member), Mrs Prativa Nanda (Retired Teacher), Mr Amir Singh (Social Worker), Mr Gagan Bihari Dhal (Social Worker) Mr Kunja Bihari Rout (Sr Journalist), Dr. Gitanjali Patri (Gynaecologist), Mr. Jatadhari Majhi (Journalist), Mrs Sasmita Pradhan (Journalist) and other dignitaries on the stage. Emphasizing their strength and resilience that brought them to this shelter, where each one of them were cared for, loved and celebrated. Each and every speaker paid homage to Dr Acharya, who not only dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the defenceless and destitute children, but also refused to stay away from them, whom he dearly loved, during his last few days. Non spared to highlight the achievements of the children in various fields, including, sports, dance, chess, and debate. Prizes were then distributed amongst the winners, followed by photo ops and a sumptuous, delicious lunch.
The entire event would be incomplete if one were not to mention Ms Hemanta Tandia, the superintendent. who tireless ran around and coordinated with the personals needed to make the event a grand success. She made sure she carried forward the legacy of Dr Acharyas teaching of discipline, respect and the zeal to learn.
The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of the volunteers and donations from the local community cheer up the organizers of Childrens Day.
