Nitraa NIT celebrated 79th Independence day
Rourkela: (NITRAA) NIT ROURKELA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Celebrated 79th Independence day in NITRAA BHAWAN SECTOR 4 Rourkela. Honorable Director NIT ROURKELA Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao hoisted the National flag in the presence of NITRAA President Er. F. C. Mohanty and Dr. Atanu Bhowmick Professor of practice and ex-DIC Rourkela Steel plant. General Secretary Prof. Hrushikesh Naik introduced the guests and highlighted the genesis of the programme. NITRAA felicitated a young brave boy named Saban Bhumij of class 8 of Pragati Vidyamandir Jagda for his heroic act of bravery. Three people were getting drowned in the flowing river. Saban saw the scene and could not control himself. Jumped into the river and saved two valuable human lives. He could not save the
third one for which reason he is cursing himself. NITRAA felicitated the brave boy and his parents by giving a certificate of bravery and cash of Rs. 5000. Dean Alumni declared to provide him the football kits as the boy was fond of playing football. Since his parents are very poor NITRAA declared to take care of his education till he graduates. Further NITRAA will try to recommend his name to get the bravery award from Government of India through Rourkela ADM and Sundargarh Collector. The Director NIT ROURKELA Prof. Rao addressed the gathering and expressed that all should learn from this little boy who saved two lives without expecting any return for this heroic act. Dr. Bhowmick also addressed the gathering and appreciated the heroic act of the boy. Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by the Secretary (Establishment) Mr. Swaroop Panigrahi.
